How the process works
Lost-Wax Casting Technique
Slow-made in my studio in Montreal
Each piece is one-of-one. Which means no two pieces of jewellery will ever be the same.
To begin, the piece is formed by hand using jewellers wax and different tools. Once the piece looks perfect, it’s cast in solid sterling silver (925).
Finishing Touches
After casting the pieces aren’t quite done yet…
The piece isn’t smooth or polished after casting, if anything the metal looks dusty and needs some TLC.
After casting, the piece is sanded, polished, and any stones are set. After cleaning- voilà the piece is done!
Let’s break- down the steps!
Step 1: carve, sculpt, melt, etc the piece with jewellers wax.This can be a ring, pendant, 3D molds or necklace links.
Step two: The wax piece is put in plaster, and molten silver is poured in, melting the wax copy and leaving a perfect replica of the wax mold but in silver.
Step Three: the piece is sanded, polished, and any stones are set. Ta-da!
